GO TO ONLINE REGISTRATION HERE!

General Information

Champlin-Dayton Athletic Association (CDAA) Volleyball is open to all 3rd - 8th graders. It is a house league program that emphasizes fun and fair play for all ages. Newcomers and experienced players alike are welcome in our program. Games and practices will be played in Gyms in Champlin and Dayton.

Our Volleyball leagues will be organized by grade level

3rd & 4th Grades:    Emphasis is placed on skill development, confidence building and learning how to play and have fun. Season starts at the end of September and runs through the middle of November. The intent is to allow the players to gain experience in game situations and for the coaches to use the time as teaching opportunities. Games/practices will be two nights per week – will try to schedule mostly on Monday and Wednesday evenings.

5th & 6th Grades:    Emphasis is placed on a higher skill development and rules and regulations. No evaluations will be held this year – information on player experience will be requested at registration and will be used to even out teams. Season starts at the end of September and runs through the middle of November. Games/practices will be two nights per week – will try to schedule mostly on Tuesday and Thursday evenings.

7th & 8th Grades:    Emphasis is placed on skill development and learning how to play and have fun. This level will also focus on adding multiple hits and on introducing and using in game situations more advanced skills. Season starts at the end of September and runs through the middle of November. The intent is to allow the players to gain experience in game situations and for the coaches to use the time as teaching opportunities. Games/practices will be two nights per week – will try to schedule mostly on Tuesday and Thursday evenings.

Game Equipment:

  • Participants supply your own knee pads
  • A limited number of volleyballs will be supplied per team.
If you bring your own ball please remember to label it with your name!
  • Participants should wear black shorts for the games

Volunteers:

The program cannot run without enough adults volunteering to coach. The focus is on learning and having fun so even inexperienced coaches will help the kids tremendously.

Example practice schedules can be provided to those that want them in addition to an explanation of different drills. Also, we will look to get High School volleyball player volunteers to come to practices to help out if coaches choose. Coaches can be paired or in 3’s to minimize the responsibility of any one person. Also, there may be a coach’s clinic the night of the coach’s meeting where you can learn drills hands-on.

Please consider signing up to help coach!

It is not about winning games, it is about the progress your team makes throughout the season and the confidence that is gained in the players. If your team is having fun and has improved, you have succeeded.

If you have any questions please email:  Volleyball@CDAASports.org   or call the Volleyball Hotline at 952.808.5005 and leave a message. Your call will be returned as quickly as possible.

Coaches Meeting

If you are selected to coach a volleyball team please attend a coach’s meeting on Sept 19th, 2010, at the Rebels Building at Jerry Ruppelius Athletic Complex (JRAC) – specific time and location are TBD depending on when / where the coach’s hands-on clinic happens. Please make every effort to attend, as materials and rules will be handed out at that time.

If you have any questions or concerns please call the volleyball hotline at 952.808.5005 and leave a message.
