Parent Roles and Responsibilities
Responsibilities of Parents:
It is your responsibility to get your child(ren) to practice and
games. Be on time.
• Attendance to practice and games is mandatory. If you
plan on making less then 80% of the practices this is not a program
for you or your child. Players missing several practices OR games
can be removed from the traveling program or get less play time
in games.
• Parents will be required to work at the "A"
and "B" traveling tournaments hosted by CDAA traveling
baseball.
• Ensure your team has a team parent. If the coach has not
selected one, make sure one is selected and communicated to the
coach. This is an important role as they are responsible for communications
regarding your teams play and activities. A Team parent cannot
be related to the coach.
• Be positive. Set a good example for your children, encourage
and compliment player performance and effort. Strive to build
self•esteem and confidence in your child and their teammates.
• Open a line of communication with your child's coach and/or
team parent.
• Control your emotions. Do not yell discouraging words
at your child, your child's teammates, coaches, other players,
opposing coaches or umpires. Children pick up quickly on behavioral
cues from watching adults. Parent's behavior also reflects on
our traveling program, school and community.
• Remember it is the Coaches responsibility to discuss game
situations with umpires.
• Take the time to work with your child on his or her skills.
• If intervention is needed due to a problem with another
player or the coach, try these guidelines.
• It is not always the best time to approach them before,
after or during a game.
• Talk with your team representative first and see if they
can help resolve the issue.
• Remember to work with the other parties involved versus
against them. Ask if you can call them to discuss an issue with
your child.
• Delivery of the issue is important. Make sure the issue
is your child's and is in their best interest not your own. Work
together for a resolution.
• Don't forget Coaches are volunteers. They can use a pat
on the back as much as your children
