More information regarding evaluations will be posted here when it becomes available. Senior High Youth (16U and 17-19 year old) LeaguesTeams may sign up intact. Team registration information will be posted on the CDAA website. Individual registration will be accepted but will be placed on a team only if team is in need of players. Teams will play in the Gopher State Baseball League. More information on league is available at www.myas.org there is a State Tournament offered for the 16U and 17-19U League. Traveling League InformationCDAA traveling teams play in the Gopher State Baseball League. Teams typically play a 16 game schedule. Approximately half the games will be in Champlin or Dayton and the other half will be played at other cities in the league. In the past some of those cities have been Elk River, Brooklyn Park, Maple Grove, Anoka, Andover, and Blaine. A limited number of games may be further away. Games are generally on weeknights and most weeks will have two games. CDAA traveling teams generally play four to five tournaments during the summer. 10U teams are limited to three tournaments plus State, unless parents approve of additional tournaments. One of these tournaments will be held here in Champlin, the Father Hennepin Tournament or the Champlin Classic Tournament. The season starts in early May and ends in the middle of July. Players do need to try-out for these teams. Generally there is one “A” and one “B” team for each age level. Traveling League Age DeterminationThe CDAA teams play in the Gopher State Baseball League administered by MYAS. The League is a USSSA League. USSSA along with the majority of youth baseball associations conform to USA Baseball age rules. The age cut off is April 30th of the coming season. Thus whatever age your player is on April 30th this should be your tryout age. The exception to this in CDAA is grade. If for example your son is in 8th grade and is technically 13 per the age calculation, he still is allowed to play “up” to 14U where most of his classmates are. Players are not allowed to tryout at two different age levels. Once tryouts start players cannot move to a different age level. Here is a link to the USSSA age calculator, but please remember many players do play with their classmates and may continue to do so in CDAA (as long as their age does not exceed the baseball age). Here is a link to MYAS age cut off. MYAS words it as “cannot turn x age BEFORE May 1st” this is the same as saying age on April 30th. Traveling League TryoutsPlayers signing up to play in the traveling league must attend tryouts. Indoor tryouts will be held the week of March 8th, 2010. Outdoor tryouts will be held the week of March 22nd weather permitting with a backup date scheduled for the week of April 13th, 2010. Traveling League Indoor TryoutsAll indoor tryouts will be held at the Champlin Park High School Gym. All players should arrive 15-30 minutes before their start time to check in. Players should bring their glove and bat if they own one. Players must wear their protective cup. Parents are asked to check their player in and return at end time to pick up their player. Indoor Tryout Times
March 9th March 11th The indoor portion of the baseball tryouts consist of fielding and throwing, hitting, and base running from Home to 2nd Base. Each scored station will have two independent evaluators. A fourth station will also be used to assess each players pitching ability. The pitching score will not count towards tryout scoring.
Fielding:
Hitting:
Running: An additional station for sizing will be rotated through whereas our vendor will size each player for uniform and cap. After totaling all scores players will be ranked from first to last. If there is an apparent cut line then players falling below this line will be released to the house program. Remaining players will be invited outside for outdoor tryouts. Making it to outdoor tryouts does not guarantee that player has made a team as additional cuts may occur to form both the AAA and AA teams. All results will be posted on the CDAA website by tryout number. No names will be posted Traveling League Outdoor Tryouts OverviewOutdoor tryouts will consist of ongoing infield and outfield work, throwing, and hitting. In addition there will be at least one scrimmage. Players will be assessed by Coaches as well as one independent evaluator. Outdoor tryouts should last 2-3 evenings weather permitting. Both AAA and AA Head Coaches and Independent evaluator will make their rankings and assessments and provide this to the Traveling Director or designated Travel Committee member. The Traveling Director or designated Traveling Committee member must review and approve all final rosters. Final rosters will be posted on the CDAA website by tryout number. If you have specific questions about tryouts please contact the Traveling Director Terry Christle at TerryChristle@q.com Additional InformationVolunteeringInterested in volunteering?
