WHAT NIGHTS DO WE PLAY?
*Please note that there may be other practice nights scheduled by the coaches
This is an ENTRY level league. This league is designed for 6 & 7 year olds who have a limited understanding of basic rules and at least one year of T-ball. Pitching machines may be used for practices and coaches will pitch for all games. If your child has not played baseball, please consider signing them up for the City of Champlin T-ball.
This is NOT an entry level league. This program is for 8 year olds and for 7 year olds with more advanced skills with at least one year in baseball. Pitching machines may be used for practices and coaches will pitch for all games and more advanced base running skills will be introduced. There will not be skill evaluations for this age group. To be eligible to play up to the 9 & 10 year age group, you must attend the 9 & 10 year old evaluation session and qualify in the top 10% of the evaluated 9 & 10 year olds in either the American or National Leagues.
This league will be divided into an American league and a National league based on skill evaluations prior to the start of the season determining which league is appropriate for each player. Live pitching will be used for the entire baseball season in both the American & National league. There will be a mid-season tournament and an end of season tournament. The top finishing regular season team and the winner of the end of the season tournament will advance to the MYAS (Minnesota Youth Athletic Services) Recreational State Tournament with their tournament entry fee paid for by CDAA Baseball. Other teams are encouraged to participate in the Recreational State Tournament, but must pay their own fees. If playing up to the 11&12 age league, you must attend the 11&12 year old evaluation session. Playing up in the 11&12 league for players younger than 11 years old is allowed only if you qualify in the top 10% of the evaluated 11&12 year olds.
At the end of the season, American League coaches will select the top 4-5 players from each team to play on an optional “All-Star” team. Champlin will form up to two (2) teams. Games will be played against teams from Anoka, Ramsey and Andover. The All-Star league will begin in mid-July and end in early August. There will be an additional fee associated with the All-Star team of approximately $50.

Players signing up to play in the house league will be asked to attend a player evaluation session. Evaluation sessions are designed to rate each players skills in fielding, throwing and batting. Evaluations will be used to divide the players into teams attempting to make the skill level on each team as equal as possible. There are no evaulations for 7U and 8U leagues.
House League evaluations will be held Saturday, March 24th at Jackson Middle School, 6000 – 109th Ave N Champlin, MN. Enter through door number 4. Please try and attend the time you are scheduled for, but if there is a conflict you can attend any of the sessions for your grade level.

Teams will play in the Gopher State Baseball league. More information on the league is available at Minnesota Youth Athletic Services. There is a State Tournament offered for the 16U and 17 - 19U league. Players trying out for CPHS Soph-Varsity teams will receive additional information at CPHS regarding summer baseball opportunities.
CDAA traveling teams play in the Gopher State Baseball league. Teams typically play a 16 game schedule. Approximately half the games will be in Champlin or Dayton and the other half will be played at other cities in the league. In the past, cities have been Elk River, Brooklyn Park, Maple Grove, Anoka, Andover and Blaine. A limited number of games may be further away. Games are generally on weekday nights and most weeks will have two games. CDAA traveling teams generally play three to four tournaments during the summer. The season starts in early May and ends in the middle of July. Players do need to try-out for these teams. Generally there is one “A” and one “B” team for each age level.
Tryouts will be held on March 5-7, 2012 in the field house at Champlin Park High School. There is a $25 non-refundable tryout fee that everyone will pay at time of registration. The schedule for tryouts is as follows:

Wednesday March 7 |

| 6:00 - 7:30 pm | 12U | 11U | 10U |

The following coaches have been selected as interim coaches for the upcoming season. Coaching assignments will become final once evaluations have been completed and will depend on where players are placed on teams. Assistant Coaches will not be selected until all teams have been formed.
The baseball programs need volunteers to coach, assistant coaching, coordinate and perform other functions. Please contact the CDAA Baseball Director, at Baseball@CDAASports.org. if you are interested.
The Baseball Directors will organize a group of individuals for conducting the house evaluations and traveling tryouts. The members of the group will normally consist of members of the Baseball Board, Coordinators from other age leagues, and coaches from CDAA Baseball. Players will be scored on categories of fielding, hitting, and throwing (and running for traveling). These scores will then be used to formulate teams.
Requests in house baseball to play with other individuals may be honored but not guaranteed. The goal of team formulation is to create as equal teams as possible with the information known about each player through the evaluations process.
Team formation at the traveling level is ultimately decided by the Baseball Director and Coach. The goal is to select the best 12 players to make up the team taking into consideration special circumstances such as pitchers and catchers. Therefore the 12 highest scoring individuals will not necessarily be the AAA team.
All players who register for traveling and go through the tryout process must realize that if they are assigned to a team they must participate on that team.
Once teams have been developed, there will be no trading of players unless authorized by the Baseball Director.
You must supply your own helmet.
